Don't let your skin get the Holiday Blues.
Shopping. Cooking. Cleaning. Feasting. Drinking. Its the Holiday Season...too much to do on too little sleep and its usually taking place during harsh, wintry weather. The end result: Just when you want to look sparkly and terrific, your skin gets the holiday blues.
From puffy eyes, uneven skin tone and unexpected blemishes the holidays can many times bring seasonal skin problems. The Good News, you can prepare and ensure your "Angelic Glow" will last all season. At MCA Cosmetic Dermatology we believe in prevention, here are some cosmetic tricks and tips to keep your holiday glow going clear into the New Year.
Laser Treatments - for those constant parties and late nights you must prepare your skin to look it's healthiest. "Laser treatments can do just that, as well as topical treatments with Vitamin C or creams containing retinol." - Carline Drouin
Moisturize - Increase the moisture level in your skin and start early in the season. Most skin stress such as dark circles can be a direct cause of lack of moisture due to your skin being exposed to indoor heating. Also the more "festive drinks" that include alcohol can often push into another skin type all together. Move toward a richer moisturizer at the start of the holiday season. "If you use a gel switch to a cream or lotion. If you currently use a cream or lotion, switch to using a night cream during the day. You can even try a rich balm rather than a cream." - Dr. Lisa Hitchins
Acne Treatments - For most women the biggest holiday skin problem is not dryness but breakouts. "if you're prone to acne it could happen more frequently, but even if you have great skin, holiday stress - or any stress - can cause your skin to break out due to abnormal surges of testosterone." - Dr. Lisa Hitchins. One solution is to use a topical treatment that has benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid placed directly on the blemish. If you need something more immediate unwanted blemishes can be injected in our office and gone within 24 hours!

'Makeup' the Difference with these Tips & Tricks
Trust your skin to the professionals. Jane Iredale was the first to supply the aesthetics industry with a full-line of makeup based on minerals. As a Hollywood makeup artist, she wanted a product that was beautiful and good for the skin. So, Iredale consulted with world-renowned plastic surgeons and dermatologists and produced her mineral makeup line.
MCA Cosmetic Dermatology center carries a complete line of Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup. For more information about the advantages of it, and to make an appointment so our Aesthetician can expertly match the perfect shade for your skin tone please click here.)
Those bluish sometime brown patches around the eyes can give away your secret nightlife and age…and sometimes add a few years. A good moisturizer can do wonders, but for extra coverage an under-eye concealer with light-reflecting properties can do magic! Jane Irdedale has developed a product line specific to addressing coverage of dark circles:
Circle\Delete® - A creamy concealer that not only conceals but also conditions the under-eye area. Contains vitamin K, thought to repair the blood vessels and act as a skin bleaching agent to help fade hyperpigmentation.
Enlighten Concealer™ - Don't just cover it...do something about it at the same time! With Enlighten Concealer, we do just that! The ultimate concealer for very dark circles, hyperpigmentation and bruising.
And remember, shimmery makeup is a must have this season for those holiday parties; ask about the Moonglow or read more here. This year put the focus on you and light up the holidays and New Year with Sparkling Skin!
